Did You Know…Odor Is A Gas?
With that in mind we have the basis to treat odor and remove it.

Next it is important to know that there are two types of odor.

First: “real” odor – pure sensation of smell transmitted to the olfactory lobe by the olfactory nerve.

Second: “psychological” odor or “heightened awareness” odor – odors that people think they smell based on experience, suggestion, and past impressions. Example when someone knows there was a fire in the room and think they may smell smoke. OR we smell a particular perfume and it reminds us of our grandmother.

For the purpose of this brochure we will concentrate on the treatment of “real odors.“ In order to treat this type of odor it is necessary to know the source of the odor. The most common household odors come from one or more of the following three areas:

1. Pet Urine Contamination
2. Mold & Mildew
3. Cigarette Smoke

Since our company specializes in odor removal our technicians have received the highest form of education in order to deal effectively in this type of treatment. The education they received is from the training and certifying organization – IICRC (Institute, Of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification)

Changing The Odor Cause Is The Key To Odor Elimination
Source removal is necessary to completely eliminate odors.

Example:

Mold – control and temperature and reduce the moisture to eliminate mold.

Cigarette Odor – Multi-step procedure. Smoker must quit smoking, or not smoke in the home. Then Surfaces must be cleaned/and or sealed.

Pet Odor – If body odor, regular bathing and cleaning the carpet or upholstery may be all that is needed. If the odor is caused by pet urine, the pet must be removed and the affected areas cleaned, and treated, OR the guilty pet must be housebroken – as in the case of a puppy in training.
