We know your belongings are important to you. We treat them as though they were priceless. We want to do the best possible job on your rugs and upholstery. However, there are some important things that you should know. There are certain risks and limitations inherent to the cleaning process exist. Customers should be aware of these conditions and understand that the company cannot be held liable for issues arising from poor construction, fugitive dyes, hidden damage, or separation of the backing in custom area rugs.

Where shampooing, washing or hot water extraction is exercised, shrinkage is a possibility. Many rugs are made with less than quality materials and dyes. RAMEY CLEANING INC. cannot be responsible for problems caused by poor construction, regardless of the original cost of the rug or for fugitive dyes that could cause bleeding. No responsibility is assumed by RAMEY CLEANING INC., for any damage existing prior to the receipt of goods (or which may be developed by reason of any of the usual processes employed.) Rugs may have hidden moth damage or “dry rot” that only becomes apparent during the cleaning process. Many of today’s custom area rugs are made with a double backing. Sometimes this backing separates from use, cleaning or deterioration of the bonding agent used. RAMEY CLEANING INC cannot be responsible for separation of the backing or the wrinkles which may occur. For insurance purposes, we must record the value of precious rugs in our possession. Increased liability is just one of the additional costs that we incur in cleaning valuable rugs. Therefore, our cleaning charges must reflect the value of your rug. Urine is notorious for damaging dyes. If urine is present bleeding is likely to occur in the normal cleaning process.

As such, the company or authorized agent agrees to perform the work specified professionally using reasonable care to obtain satisfactory results. The professional cleaner is limited in attaining the best results due to the condition and the nature of the article being cleaned. Listed below are conditions which are the most commonly encountered for which we disclaim liability and for which the customer agrees not to hold us responsible:

  • Spot Removal: Spot removal is not guaranteed, and certain spots may be impossible to restore to their original color or texture. Spotting work on specific substances, such as rust, liquor, cosmetics, ink, coffee, and lipstick stains, is performed at the customer’s risk.
  • Carpet Characteristics: Carpeting naturally has certain permanent characteristics, such as fluffing, blooming, and pile shading, which cannot be changed and may be highlighted by cleaning.
  • Colorfastness: The colorfastness of fabric, leather, vinyl, or other materials depends on the material and dyes used in manufacturing. The customer will be advised of any adverse effects that may result from the cleaning process.
  • Backing and Lining: Backing, lining, and other materials and processes used in manufacturing carpeting and furniture may react to the cleaning process, producing adverse results in the face material.
  • Shrinkage: The customer will not hold the company responsible for shrinkage unless caused by the company’s negligence.
  • Color Fading: The customer will not hold the company responsible for color fading due to light, age, or weak or deteriorated material.
